Playa Vista is a neighborhood located on the westside of Los Angeles, just north of LAX. For many years the area was the headquarters of Hughes Aircraft, Loyola Marymount University, and not much else. In the early 2000s the community embarked on a development plan that would include high-end retail, commercial and residential development. As a result of this ambitious effort, Playa Vista has become a premiere choice for high-tech and entertainment businesses, and is the core of what has become known as “Silicon Beach.” Playa Vista currently serves as home to LA outposts for Facebook, Google and Microsoft, among many others. In order to serve this new influx of young professionals, there are a number of great new condo and townhome options in varying price ranges.
Geographically, Playa Vista is highly desirable because you’re sandwiched between major freeway access and the ocean. Marina del Rey is a five minute bike ride, and Venice Beach is a short Uber ride. Even in the worst rush hour traffic, LAX is 15 minutes at the most. The newest addition to the community is the Runway retail development, which has dozens of restaurants, bars, shops and a massive new Whole Foods.
